Three Things Thursday: The Gary Allan and Brooks and Dunn Concert

5 Aug

I totally forgot about Three Things Thursday until I glanced at my blog reader and saw the posts of other bloggers who do “TTT.”

I immediately decided I could incorporate my concert review around TTT.

I hope you enjoy!

1. I LOVE GARY ALLAN

Gary in action... He is fabulous live

I couldn’t get very many good pictures at this concert, because there was a girl in a bright blue cowboy hat dancing around in front of me that kept blocking my view. And while I did manage to catch a few good ones, the photos do no justice to the live music 🙂

2. I am so happy I got to be a part of Brooks and Dunn’s last tour.

Kix Brooks on the big screen - I believe Ronnie is up there on the smaller screens

JP and I have seen B & D before, but this concert was very unique. They really played to the crowd, and even asked for requests. It was one of the better concerts we’ve been to this summer.

3. I love spending time with JP.

Taking some fun photos while waiting for the concert to start

This is the first summer we’ve gone to concerts on our own (usually we go in big groups), and to be honest, we’ve been having a great time. I was a little nervous that going by ourselves might be boring, since we are so used to going with large groups, but we have had no problem entertaining ourselves. I love that kid 🙂

Waiting for the show to start

Well, have a good one. Keep smiling!

Playing Catch-up

2 Aug

Hellooo!

So,  I have some really fabulous photos to post from Saturday’s concert, but my camera is currently MIA (I think it’s in my Jeep, to be honest), so they’ll have to wait for another post.

Not that I don’t have enough to post about anyway – I haven’t posted since Friday! (Well, technically I posted just a few hours ago, since Friday’s post didn’t publish when I thought it was going to, but we still have a lot of catching up to do!)

When I last left you, I was re-grouping from my best friend’s grandfather’s funeral services.

As it turns out, Friday was also my best friend’s husband’s 30th birthday, and while she is having a party for him this Saturday, she felt bad that she didn’t have anything planned for his actual birthday, besides a funeral.

Well, when JP got home from work Friday night, he proclaimed only Pizza Hut would tame his hunger. I must admit, I wasn’t thrilled by the idea, but I called my bestest to see if she and her birthday boy husband would be interested in joining us. They said yes, and we were off.

Turns out Pizza Hut can be a pretty fun place, especially since our local branch is BYOB. That meant sangria for me and TP, and Summer Ale for JP and the birthday boy. Seriously, we could not have been happier. It was a great night.

While stuffed, we came back and tried the brownies I made for the birthday boy. To be honest, they were okay, but nothing to write home about. I think keeping them in the fridge made the brownies too hard…

Saturday morning, I ran 10 miles instead of the planned 7. I was actually all set to run 11, but then my Garmin quit, and I had no idea how much further I had to go to reach 11, so I just started walking.

I spent the rest of the day hanging out outside, since it was so beautiful, and getting ready for the Gary Allan/Brooks and Dunn concert. All I have to say about the concert right now is OH MY GOODNESS.

Sunday was a rest day for me training-wise, and that’s exactly what JP and I did – rest. We did end up going to TP’s house to hang out by her pool and to have dinner and get ice cream, but that’s about all we did all day – hang out and eat. And it was grand.

Sorry, no pictures today. And I’m now a day behind in posting, but I’ll be back tomorrow with a re-cap of today, and the concert. Woo-hoo! Get excited!

Keep smiling, all. Have a great night!

Can you believe it’s August already? What’s one thing you want to do before the summer is over?

Three Things Thursday

29 Jul

Hello! And Happy Thursday!

I wasn’t quite sure what to write about today, but was inspired when I saw a few other bloggers writing “Three Things Thursday.” I figured it would be easy for me to write about three things that I’m doing/looking forward to today.

Enjoy!

1. I am going to be making this recipe  later today, once I pick up all of the ingredients. It’s for my best friend’s husband, who turns 30 tomorrow, and LOVES peanut butter. In fact, he loves it so much that I am thinking about mixing peanut butter pieces into the brownie mix. I’ll post pictures once I get baking 🙂

2. I am going to see Gary Allan and Brooks and Dunn this weekend. I have seen both these artists before (LOVE Gary), but am still VERY excited to be going. They both put on great shows, I know they will not disappoint.

3.  I went to Target this afternoon to buy some more mini clif bars, which I love and keep on hand for afternoon snacks, but I changed my mind when I realized I had a coupon for these, and they were on sale. Score! I realize they are a totally different beast than the Clif bar, but I figured I could change it up for a bit and see if I liked them. Let me tell you, I was not disappointed, and I love that they’re all natural, with no HFCS. Yum.

Have a good afternoon, everyone!

Keep Smiling!

Have you ever been to any concerts? If so, which was your favorite?

Timmy!

10 Jul

(JP and I at the concert)

JP and I went to the Tim McGraw concert last night.

This is not the first time we’ve seen him, and I doubt it will be the last.

Let me tell you, this man puts on a FABULOUS show.

(Get ready...)

(There he is...)

(Tim McGraw!)

(Amazing)

If you have the opportunity to see him live, I would definitely recommend it. And not just cause he has such a cute butt. But that’s definitely a highlight ;o)

(I could look at this picture for hours :o)

After a late night, I pushed myself out of bed at 6:45 a.m. to get my long run in.

I am so glad I did, because it is currently raining cats and dogs and I would have gotten soaked if I had waited any longer to go.

Another 7 miles in the record books, and I’m feeling great for the rest of the day :o)

After my run, JP and I ran down to a job site his old boss has been working at.

His old boss is out of town, and asked JP to push some dirt around for him while he is gone.

(All I could think was, "Please don't fall in. Please don't fall in."

My goodness, I had NO idea what JP used to do on a regular basis. This excavating stuff is pretty scary! Check out that hole!

After JP worked for about an hour, he had to head out with his new boss to check out a potential job.

I was kind of bummed not to be able to spend the rest of the day with him, but we’ve got plans to go out to dinner tonight, so all will not be lost. I’m actually really looking forward to our little date – we have not been out in a looong time!

On an unrelated note, my Garmin froze on me this morning. I glanced down a couple of times and noticed I was keeping a pretty steady pace, which I was pleased with, but usually my pace will adjust a little bit as I’m glancing down, and today it didn’t move. About the third time I looked down, I realized it was not keeping time and everything had frozen. I quickly shut it off and turned it back on, and it was fine, but I was wondering if anyone else has had that problem? My Garmin can tend to be temperamental (it’s hard to turn on sometimes, and other times it will turn off on its own) so I wasn’t surprised that it froze, but it’s kind of frustrating.

When I run, I usually don’t pay too much attention to my pace – I really use the Garmin so I know how far I’ve run or how long. I would like to start working on my pace, since I think it will help with my training for the marathon, but I’m not sure I want to rely on it if it’s going to keep acting up like this?

 Well, I’m off.

Have a great day!
